Bay To Breakers 2002
Wohoo, my first "Bay To Breakers" race. A chance to see some of northern California's
wackiness up close. Little did I know that it would be quite uncharacteristic....it
would rain. Despite this, about 75,000 people showed up anyway.
Well, 10 miles of walking in a t-shirt and shorts later, with my D30 in a plastic bag
with a hole punched through for the lens, and my jacket covering it (instead of me),
enjoy the pictures...
Here we are, crowded at the starting line.
Tortilla's fill the air (a Bay to Breakers tradition, apparently)
We watch as some very interesting floats go by.
Of course, not everyone is here to celebrate the San Francisco spirit...
Hey, there goes Mr. Jack-in-the-Box!
A pretty cool dragon costume.
Shouldn't they be in school?
Gotta love getting pushed through the race, with your own keg on tap.
Hmmm....I recall having a nightmare once, showing up to school dressed like that....
The Romans are coming, the Romans are coming!
Check out Gandalf...he's even on huge platform shoes to make the rest of us look like hobbits...
There go Mr. and Ms. Pac-Man, and a ghost.
The fabled "salmon runners", who run the race backwards, or upstream, if you prefer.
It's a little wet, but Pam and Mazi are still happy to be out.
Some form of chicken costume, I think.
Looking back, and seeing the thousands of runners, walkers, and trudgers.
